Holes by Louis Sachar is a perfect book if you want to read adventure and mystery! Louis Sachar was born in March 1954 and is an American writer who writes young adult and child novels. He is mostly known for Holes but writes other books like Cardturner and Fuzzy Mud.
Holes is about a teenage boy named Stanley, who is wrongly accused of theft and sent to Camp Green Lake, a camp where boys are forced to dig holes every day. As Stanley spends more time there, he begins to uncover a secret about the camp along with his family’s cursed luck.
Two of my favourite characters are Stanley and Zero. I like Stanley because he gets braver and more confident as the story progresses. At the beginning, he was not very confident and often struggled with difficult situations, but he gradually became stronger and more courageous. I also like Zero because he is a quiet and kind friend to Stanley. Even though Zero does not talk very much, he shows that he cares about Stanley with his actions.
I enjoyed the mystery throughout the book and especially liked how everything connected together at the end. The different events and characters became connected in a surprising way, which made the story more interesting. I think this book is a good choice for readers who enjoy mystery, adventure, and stories with interesting twists.
One thing I did not like about the book was that some parts were a little slow. This was because the boys spent a lot of time digging holes every day, which sometimes made the story feel repetitive. However, the mystery and exciting events later in the book made up for this.
I would highly recommend this book for people who like mystery. Holes has many amazing characters and a wonderful ending.
